What if age stopped being a threshold and became a lever?
By combining societal analysis and scientific research, this platform offers a renewed perspective on ageing from the age of 45 onward.
It is built on a central conviction: ageing is not solely a biological or functional phenomenon.
It is also shaped by social representations, cultural norms, and age-related pressures, which can influence not only quality of life and relationships with oneself and others, but also health behaviours, access to prevention, and ultimately long-term health trajectories.
From social perceptions to individual life trajectories.
On the one hand, the Age & Society Observatory examines how our society perceives and frames ageing. Through a study conducted with Ipsos BVA, it highlights often pessimistic or prescriptive representations that influence behaviors well before people enter the “senior” stage of life such as attitudes toward health, the use of preventive measures, physical activity, and confidence in one’s ability to take care of oneself.
These mechanisms, akin to everyday ageism, have a real impact on individual life trajectories.
At the same time, MIPAG (Multidisciplinary International Positive Ageing Group) is a collective of healthcare professionals who are experts in their respective fields, working to scientifically analyze agility and frailty across the lifespan.
Their work helps to objectify these concepts and identify prevention levers grounded in current scientific knowledge, by integrating the psychosocial, environmental, and behavioral factors that influence functional health.
These two perspectives complement and reinforce one another:
one sheds light on the cultural and social framework in which we grow older, while the other provides scientific reference points to take informed action.
Helping everyone build well-ageing
The first signs of ageing are inevitable, but what truly matters is how we move through them.
